Curly Burl Woodworks has been owned and operated on Hornby Island BC by Tim English and Sara Caiger since 2016. We specialize in Lichtenberg Art which is the process of burning fractal patterns into porous surfaces like wood using a high voltage electrical current. All of our wood is locally sourced and salvaged and does not include any first growth. We also carry many kitchen products including chopping blocks, cutting boards, spatulas, chopsticks and much much more.

DISCLAIMER: Do not try this at home. Serious injury or death can occur

In the late 1700's Georg Christoph Lichtenberg managed to study and duplicate the patterns found on victims skin who were struck by lightning. Since then many artists and scientists have been modifying the process to bring out and preserve these beautiful patterns. Because the process uses high voltage current many people have lost their lives attempting it.
